Just breathe...

How often do you think about your breath?

We take our breathing for granted, after all it happens without us needing to do anything about it. But to take some time to concentrate on your breathing can make a big difference to how you feel.

There are lots of breathing exercises out there which you can access easily via Google or YouTube but for now why not try the one below?

Exercise:

Start by making yourself as comfortable as possible in your seat.

---

Focus on your breathing for a few moments - don't worry about changing or controlling it, just allow yourself to become aware of the rhythm that your body works to without any thought or attention from you.

---

After a minute or so allow yourself to take some deeper breaths. Breathe in deeply and slowly through your nose and hold your breath for a second or two. Exhale with a long and controlled breath. Repeat this process for as long as you like.

---

As you breathe deeply become aware of the effect that deliberately slowing down has on your body. Feel your muscles relax and tension start to melt away.

---

As you breathe out imagine that you are breathing out your stress, worry and anxiety and, in its place breathe in peace, calmness and confidence

---

Repeat for as long as you like.
